She Taught Me To Look Up

It started with my daughter.

She was small — maybe four, maybe five — and she noticed everything. A bird on a branch. A shadow crossing the grass. She’d stop mid-sentence, grab my hand, and point.

Dad. What’s that one?

I didn’t always know the answer. So I started learning.

Her favorite book was a field guide to North American birds. We’d spend hours with it — tracing illustrations, memorizing calls, learning which warbler was which. Days turned into weeks. Weeks into years. We live in Poland, but somehow North American birds became the ones we knew best. The ones that felt like ours.

That might sound strange. But birds have a way of crossing borders that people don’t.

I’m Marek. I’m a designer, and I make apparel for people who notice the little things. Perch & Peace started because I couldn’t find anything that felt right for slow mornings outside — everything was too loud, too generic, or just didn’t understand what birdwatching actually feels like from the inside.

So I made something that does.

One day, my daughter and I will travel to North America and see these birds for the first time in the wild. Until then, we keep the field guide close.

10% of profits support bird conservation across North America through recurring quarterly donations — because the birds we grew up reading about are worth protecting.
